Peter Markavage, volunteer coordinator for DivineMercy Sunday I have the privilege as volunteer coordinator to help people. It's not just needing a warm body, it's also helping people on their own spiritual pilgrimage — to put them in a place that's appealing to them. I had a phone call with someone, and I had originally placed them in the gift shop. Then they told me later they were thinking of going into the priesthood. I said, "You'd rather be in with the Blessed Sacrament in the Adoration Tent. I'm going to put you there." That happens a lot, where I can help people experience their Catholic faith in a way that's meaningful by putting them into a volunteer position that's meaningful to them. And I like that!" The volunteers — they're here to volunteer, but they're also here to express God's mercy to other, to experience the Liturgy. They come from all walks of life. |
