Susan and Kevin Moore of Queens, N.Y. Kevin: My sister-in-law, years ago, gave me a copy of Divine Mercy Message and Devotion which I put somewhere and forgot about it till I picked it up one day and started to pray the Chaplet. Then a couple years after that, our parish, St. Mary's of Winfield in Queens, started a group to pray the chaplet, and I joined that. Susan: Divine Mercy was another avenue into the Church for me — to go deeper into my faith. After I started getting into this, I've heard people say, 'We don't have time to pray the whole Rosary, but that chaplet only takes a few minutes." How right they are. It only takes a few minutes. And you find extra time to say the Rosary when you pray the chaplet. It creates time. The chaplet of Divine Mercy relieves stress. It puts me at peace. Kevin: Once I got into reading St. Faustina's Diary, I thought: "Why wouldn't anyone want to do this?" Our Lord is saying through St. Faustina that this is what we are to be doing — to lead the life of mercy, being merciful to others. Why wouldn't anyone want to do that? Susan: And it should be our way of life, our whole way of life. Right from when we were children, what were we always taught? Help others. Walk in other people's shoes before you criticize that person. You're taught that, and you don't even realize you're being taught Divine Mercy throughout your life, but are you living it? Kevin: Divine Mercy dovetails very nicely with pro-life work, because we're trying to bring the Lord to these women [that is to say, women considering abortion or who have had abortions]. They are so misguided. But even if they do go in and have the abortion, God still loves them, and He will never stop loving them. As Msgr. Phillip Reilly of the Helpers of God's Precious Infants, says: If you pray the Chaplet for them, even if they're entering the abortion clinic, it helps to heal their souls.
