2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal. Renewed interest in the Fatima message and its promises has helped fuel pilgrimages to Fatima for this historic year. One only has to search for Fatima pilgrimage 2017 on the Internet and a host of sites sponsoring trips to Fatima will pop up.

Not everyone can make an expensive pilgrimage overseas, but everyone should be aware of Fatima and what it means for the world today. The Fatima message is still a critical message, but how many people understand what it means for the world? How many people understand what the "Triumph" of the Immaculate Heart is really all about?

Father David Gunter, MIC, has developed a parish program called "The Triumph."

Originally ordained for the Archdiocese of Boston in 2009, Fr. Gunter's deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary eventually brought him to the Marian Fathers in 2014. He explains that, prompted by the Holy Spirit, he began meditating and studying contemporary apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In January 2013, he a spent 30-day period in complete silence that provided the foundation for this exciting and timely mission.

"Most people have no idea what the Triumph is all about," he said. "Catholics understand that the promised Triumph will bring a period of peace to the world, but that is the limit of their understanding."

Father Gunter has been traveling the country presenting his parish mission on "The Triumph," a program that has been well received. He anticipates a very busy year in 2017 with the Church's celebration of Fatima's centennial.

As he has told audiences around the country, the promised Triumph of Our Lady's Immaculate Heart will be the greatest fruit of the saving grace Christ won for us on the Cross that the world has ever seen.

It seems appropriate to Fr. Gunter to be presenting this message on the heels the Jubilee Year of Mercy, which came to a close on Nov. 20.
