Volunteer Coordinator

(Evenings and Weekends; Must have flexibility to change schedule as duties require)

General Description: The Volunteer Coordinator has the primary responsibility of overseeing all the volunteers for the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy. The main duties include maintaining and executing the volunteer program for year-round volunteers, Divine Mercy Sunday, Spanish Day (Encuentro Latino), and other special events.

In addition, this highly visible volunteer and pilgrim-focused position, assists the Pilgrimage and Events Coordinator in all special events, ethnic days, and pilgrimage activities at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy, including all marketing, media, and mailings. The Volunteer Coordinator supports the Pilgrimage and Events Coordinator in developing relationships with group coordinators, arranging group visits to the Shrine, helping with the composition of all print and online pilgrimage and volunteer materials, and providing "holy hospitality" to pilgrims who come to Eden Hill.

Hours: Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends regularly and have a flexible schedule; able to shift to working weekdays during the winter, if needed. Must be willing to work additional days and hours, as necessary.

Education/Experience:

• 

BA degree in business, public relations, event organization or a related field. Other educational or work experience to be considered. Experience with planning and coordinating large, complex events preferred.

• 

Above average skills with Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, ACCESS (or another compatible database), and Power Point.

• 

Competency with managing social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, websites).

• 

Spanish language skills are an additional asset, but not required.

Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and a multi-tasker; have strong analytic skills; a self-starter who is able to work independently.

• 

Must have strong interpersonal skills; superior oral and written communication skills; works well on teams with good facilitation skills; able to build teams and work enthusiastically with others; must genuinely like interacting with others of all cultures and age groups.

Must have the ability to work in inclement weather.

• 

Must demonstrate a passion for the message of Divine Mercy and an above average knowledge of Catholicism.

• 

Ability to sit at a desk for a prolonged period of time.

• 

Ability to be able to stand, bend, walk, move, and lift up to 20 pounds.

• 

Must possess a valid Driver's license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record.
