Looking for a patron saint for those sick and hospitalized with COVID-19? Look no further.

The canonization miracle of St. Stanislaus Papczynski (1631-1701), Founder of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, was for a young woman who was near death from a respiratory illness with rather similar symptoms to a severe case of COVID-19.

The Marian Fathers' vicar general, Fr. Joseph Roesch, MIC, recounted the miracle in a column in the summer 2016 Marian Helper magazine:

The canonization miracle through the intercession of Blessed Stanislaus involved the physical healing of a 20-year-old Polish woman, shortly after Blessed Stanislaus' beatification in 2007. This woman, who was engaged to be married, had been suffering from what appeared to be a bad cold. She took different medications, but things kept getting worse. She was eventually admitted to the hospital and then moved to the intensive care unit. She had pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, multiple organ failure, and septic shock. Since she couldn't breathe on her own, she was intubated and ventilated. Doctors suspected she had pulmonary fibrosis — a scarring of the lung tissue that makes it difficult to breathe and is irreversible. The doctors had no hope for her recovery.

During Holy Week, her family began a novena of prayer for her through the intercession of Blessed Stanislaus. They prayed before the Blessed Sacrament and offered Masses for her recovery. There was a slight change for the better on the Easter Vigil, and then she kept improving. When they took new x-rays of her lungs three days after the Easter Vigil, her lungs were completely normal with no scarring or inflammation.

A little over a month later, she was released from the hospital, and two months later, she was married.

Stories like this give us hope. They remind us that God is in charge. He has not abandoned us. We need to keep living our lives with faith and hope!

You can read about the miracle in detail here.

Dr. Waldemar Szypulski, the attending physician of Barbara Rudzik, the woman who received the miraculous healing, shared his testimony at the 2017 Divine Mercy Sunday celebration at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Here's the video of his talk.

Let's ask St. Stanislaus for his intercession for all those suffering from COVID-19, particularly those in danger of death, asking for healing of soul and body.

Saint Stanislaus, gracious intercessor before God, defender of the oppressed and patron of those in mortal danger, you always zealously served Jesus and His Immaculate Mother for the salvation of immortal souls, and you took pity on every misery. Trusting in your intercession, I have recourse to you, and I ask that you do not deny me your help. By your earnest prayers, obtain for me from God the grace [mention your intention] for which I beg you with trust, and help me, all my life long, to fulfill the will of the Heavenly Father. Amen.
