In 2017, we'll mark 100 years since the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima in Portugal. Appearing to three shepherd children, Our Lady gave them three secrets, exhorted them to pray the Rosary every day for peace in the world through the conversion of poor sinners, make the Five First Saturdays devotion in reparation for "outrages and blasphemies against the Immaculate Heart of Mary" and to offer sacrifices for poor sinners everywhere, who often have no one to pray for them. Confirming the truth of the apparitions with the extraordinary Miracle of the Sun on Oct. 13, 1917, Our Lady's apparitions at Fatima were a response to the prayers of the Holy Father at the time, Pope Benedict XV, and anticipated many of the great evils of the 20th century, including the Second World War, the slaughter of many Christians for their faith, and more, as explained in The Second Greatest Story Ever Told by Fr. Michael Gaitley, MIC.

Cardinal Angelo Amato, the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, spoke on the Fatima apparitions at the Pontifical University Antonianum on May 7, 2015.

He made two main points, according to Catholic World News: First, "the secret of Fatima lifted the veil on the real opposition, on the plane of being and acting, between Mary, all-holy and effective cooperator with Christ, and the enemy of the good, the serpent (Gn. 3:14-15), the red dragon, Satan, the devil (Revelation 12:1-9), the anti-Christ (1 John 2:18; 2 Jn. 1:7)." Second, the message of Fatima is a powerful appeal to the good, and especially to holiness and forgiveness, which requires "sacrifice and mortification."

That's why, in this time of rising occultism and open Satanism, an age of abortion and disregard for the natural law, an age of growing difficulty and danger for all the children of God and the Blessed Virgin, it only makes sense to remember Fatima. Study Our Lady's words and deeds when she visited Portugal, reading good books like Fr. Mike's The Second Greatest Story Ever Told and Fr. Andrew Apostoli, CFR's Fatima for Today. Learn more about what it means to live life totally given to Jesus through Mary in 33 Days to Morning Glory and Under the Mantle. Listen to the wisdom of the Church on the Blessed Virgin Mary in Marian Gems and her favorite devotion in Rosary Gems. And pray! Never cease praying, especially by using the Rosary, Our Lady's favorite prayer, and the Five First Saturdays devotion. Offer up your sufferings, all the daily annoyances large and small, and every moment of your life to Jesus through the hands of Mary so that the Holy Spirit may be present and active all throughout your life, leavening every minute with grace.

On May 13, the Church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Let's make sure to join in the celebrations however we can: through attending Mass or praying the Rosary; through reading the Gospels or good books on Mary; through something, anything, to make it a special day. Fatima is for the future, not just for the past, and so let us ask Our Lady of Fatima to pray for us that we may faithfully respond to her call, loving the Lord by how we live our lives and becoming conduits for His grace to all the world, especially poor sinners most in need of God's mercy.

I just want to say one thing here - I love Jesus. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me!

Elizabeth - May 14, 2016

In the article above we are reminded of the Five First Saturdays Devotion. By this devotion, we can obtain all the graces we need for the good of our souls, and for God's glory - from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who will always direct us to her Son: to Jesus through Mary.

In order to be recollected and stay focused on prayer, especially the rosary, we must not allow ourselves to be distracted by the things in this world. Evil is so rampant in our day but there's hope for us, as Mary's children. The good news is: Satan will never be able to "devour" us so long as we stay under our Blessed Mother's mantle. I have read the book "Under the Mantle" by Father Donald Calloway, Marian Gems, Rosary Gems (also by Father Calloway); 33 days to Morning Glory, 33 days to merciful love, Consoling the Heart of Jesus, all by Father Mike Gaitley. These are great books - I recommend that those who have not yet read them should do so. You'll be glad you did! We are living in a world where humans are trying to manipulate nature as if they are the owners, the Creators - in other words those possessed by the devil are trying to take God's place by contradicting His designs, and mocking His plans. Anyway, as children of Mary, we trust that the Holy Spirit, through our Blessed Mother's intercession, will give us the strength and wisdom to resist the wiles of the Devil. Let's pray the rosary every day, and the Salve Regina for the Church, for our families, ourselves, our nation, the marginalized, persecuted Christians, for the unborn, for all the pro-life movements to prosper and end abortion, (respect and preservation of life from conception to natural death), and for world peace.

May is a month for Mothers day

Those that don't have an earthly mom, there is our spiritual mother

God has the 4th commandment to honor our father and mother

Honoring can also be praying the rosary with our Blessed Mother and introducing our spiritual mother to others so as to share Gods love charity

Today, 7 new people came into the Militia Immaculata through the 33 Day to Morning Glory Consecration. It came with great suffering for me as the leader of the group, but, Blessed Mother, I didn't give up. I know you loved me, and you looked out for me this entire time, and for the baby in my womb! I am so happy, that as I marked my 3rd renewal of consecration, more souls joined with your army, and gained a deeper love of your Son, through you. Please keep them close to your maternal heart. "Never was it known..." :-)

Richard - May 13, 2016

Judy - May 13, 2015

It took 20 years for me to cultivate a relationship with Our Mother through the rosary. At one point I told her, "Mother, I won't insult you again by praying the rosary without one minute of concentration on what I was doing." I'm going to stop, and find another way to give honor to you. A voice came into my mind, very clearly, "That's what he wants you to do. " Instantly I knew The voice was speaking of Satan. He does not want anyone to pray the rosary, and will do everything he can to distract us in prayer. It was then I knew the direction I must take, and I told Our Mother that I would pray the rosary every day regardless of where my mind was. My intention was there and my heart was with her intentions. Don't ever give up on the rosary. A very powerful method of prayer in the world.
