The Church is in a hell of a mess right now.

I speak theologically: The Church is in a hell of a mess right now.

Few things are more plainly a carefully calibrated trap of the enemy than the systematic cover up of the abuse of children, seminarians, and vulnerable adults. It's an absolute twisting around of what sex is meant to be for. Sex is meant to unite spouses in loving bonds and bring forth new life, not be a twisted exercise of power and control, using unwilling victims to satisfy lust, leading to the destruction of lives, souls, and vocations.

No. The evil deeds that gave us the present crisis are the fruit of the efforts of hell. Their exposure looks awfully like Our Lady cleaning house, bringing light, truth, and justice where there had been silence, lies, and crimes.

After all, the whole #metoo movement exposing systematic sexual harassment in politics, the entertainment industry, and now the Church began with Ronan Farrow's stories exposing Harvey Weinstein, published on Oct. 5, 2017. That's the Feast of St. Faustina in the month of the 100th anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima. From there, light has shone into the cracks and crannies of many different parts of our society, exposing predation and evil in many places.

And now it's shining in our Church.

So what do we do?

Well, as I've said, I think this present season of revelation after shocking revelation is very much Our Lady's doing. She'd rather have her children safe, her priestly sons holy, and the predators leashed than she would the Church's reputation intact, her coffers full, and her worldly power on the ascendant.

In other words, the Mother of Jesus knows what's truly important. Further, this present time in which we live is her time. We are walking the road to the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, as she promised at Fatima. She will be victorious, maybe within our lifetime.

And so she's overcoming the silence. She's overcoming the structures of sin within and outside of the Church. She's preparing the way for the Triumph of her Immaculate Heart, and the following era of peace.

And so we should all take part.

We should do as she asked at Fatima.

•Pray the Rosary daily for peace in the world;
•Make the First Saturdays of reparation, and invite others to do the same;
•Be devoted to the Immaculate Heart, especially by such practices as consecrating ourselves to Jesus through Mary; and
•Spread devotion to the Immaculate Heart.

We should also be praying for our priests and bishops, especially those who have been predators, covered up for predators, or bear any guilt for the present crisis. We should pray for their conversion, repentance, and willingness to help bring everything to light.

We should pray for the victims, for their healing and for their faith. It will take a miracle for them to recover from the abuse they suffered, and a further miracle to remain strong in faith after such a betrayal by those who stand in persona Christi.

We should take up all the great devotions, sacramentals, and prayers given us by Our Lady, especially the Rosary. They are needed now more than ever.
