By June Klins

One January night seven years ago, I wasn't able to sleep because I heard loud train whistles all night. I have never heard so many trains in my life. It was constant. And what was really odd is that it was winter, and all the windows were shut. But the trains were so LOUD! I kept thinking, "What's with all the trains?" At 3 a.m., I got on my knees and prayed the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy. I always pray it for someone in the world who is dying and needs mercy. After I got back into bed, I continued to hear trains until morning.

Later that day, I called a friend of mine, and she asked me if I would pray for a girl she knew of who had thrown herself in front of a train the night before and killed herself. I was dumbfounded. In that moment I knew why I had heard the trains all night.

Ever since that night, whenever I hear the whistle of a train, no matter where I am, I pray the "Eternal rest" prayer for the souls who may be in Purgatory for taking their own lives.

Now ... flash forward to Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, which was the 15th anniversary of my father-in-law's suicide. A priest called me that night to ask me if I had a devotion to St. Anthony of Padua. I said I did. Then he told me that he had been prompted to lend me his first-class relic of St. Anthony until Christmas. He had no idea why. I did not know at the time, but later realized that St. Anthony is the Patron of Lost Souls. He gave me the relic the next morning. That evening, a lady waited outside our Adoration chapel to talk to me. She had prayed that she would run into me because she needed to talk. I asked her if she wanted to pray with the St. Anthony relic and she did. She told me that her cousin, who had recently committed suicide, had a devotion to St. Anthony, so she was consoled in praying with the relic. St. Anthony was already at work.

Two days later, I was off work and it was a sunny and pleasant day, so I went to the outdoor Stations of the Cross near our seminary. As I was praying the Stations, I began to hear train whistles — constant again, just like before. It was eerie. After I finished, I went to the nearby Carmelite Monastery, took the St. Anthony relic, and prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the dying.

The next day, Saturday, Nov. 13, was another beautiful day. While I was working outside, I began to hear the train whistles again. Later, I took my camera and went to the beach. The train whistles continued. I took a video, hoping to capture the sound of the trains in the background, but the train sounds did not come out on the video. I knew for certain then that those whistles were meant for me. I started getting sick to my stomach and crying, because I knew in my heart that someone was committing, or had committed, suicide. I prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet several times and prayed with a first-class relic of St. Anthony of Padua for the person.

The next evening, Sunday, I read in the paper that a young man had shot and killed his girlfriend and two of their children and then himself. THAT IS WHY I HEARD ALL THE TRAINS!

As the week went on, I could not stop thinking about the trains and the murder-suicide. I wondered if the young man had been saved. Most people would find it hard to believe that he would have been saved after committing such a heinous crime, but Jesus told St. Faustina that when the Chaplet is prayed for the dying, He will stand between the Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge, but as the merciful Savior (see Diary of St. Faustina, 1541). Saint Faustina wrote in her Diary, "My prayer reaches out even there where I cannot reach physically" (163). Because of this powerful prayer, at the last minute, he could have repented. Saint Padre Pio told a woman whose husband jumped off a bridge to his demise, that on the way down he repented, so he was saved. So who are we to judge? Also, this young man had admitted himself to the hospital the week before for mental health issues, so the Lord would probably deem him less responsible. (How unfortunate that the hospital discharged him the following day, against the wishes of his family.)

Three days later, while on my way to pray in our Adoration chapel, I ran into a woman who mentioned to me that the bereavement luncheon for the families of the murder-suicide would be at our church the following day. I could not believe the coincidence that this luncheon was at my church. I wanted to tell the family about the trains and how I thought that the young man was saved, but I didn't know if he was or not. My prayers are so poor. But then I remembered that I had asked St. Anthony to pray with me, and his prayers are perfect. He is the "Patron of Lost Souls." He is also called the "Miracle Worker."

On the way home, I rode by the apartment where the couple had lived. There were teddy bears hanging on the fence as a memorial of the children. I cried. Then I asked God to give me a sign that the young man was saved. I did not ask for anything specific, just something that would show how merciful God is. God "wills everyone to be saved and to come to knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim 2:4).

When I got home and checked my e-mail, someone from my Internet prayer group, whom I did not know, had sent a note that said in the subject line: "Suicide and the Power of Prayer!" I took this to be my sign from God. I put aside everything I had to do that night and invoked the help of St. Anthony to help me "find" the right words to write the family a letter of consolation and tell them my story. I had no idea if they were Catholic, Christian, or any religion, but prayed that they would be open to what I was about to tell them.

The following morning, I went to 7 a.m. Mass. Before Mass, I began to have doubts about giving the family the letter I wrote. I opened the Bible at random to Wisdom 11:23, which says, "But You have mercy on all, because You can do all things; and You overlook the sins of men that they may repent." No longer did I doubt. I wrote this passage down, to also console the family. I offered my Communion that the family would be open to what I wrote in the letter.

When I went into the church office to drop off the letter, the secretary told me that one of our parishioners — a lady I know — was in the Adoration chapel sobbing. It turns out that she was the young man's aunt! I had no idea that anyone I knew was related to him. I showed the Wisdom passage to the secretary, and she told me to take the passage and the letter into the chapel to give to the aunt. I went in and hugged her and gave her the letter, whispered my condolences and that I had no idea that she was related.

When I left, the secretary waved me into the office to talk. I told my story to her and two other women who work there. They were in awe. When I got to the part about praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, they said that they got chills. It turns out that my pastor had done the service at the funeral home for the young man the day before, and had talked about Divine Mercy!

He even had special prayercards made up to give the family that had the image of The Divine Mercy on the front and the Divine Mercy Chaplet on the back, with the young man's name inserted in the place of the pronouns — so the family could pray it for him. Wow! How could one miss the hand of God amidst this tragedy?

I continue to pray for this young man and all the souls who may be in Purgatory who have committed suicide. These souls could be the most neglected souls in Purgatory because many people think there is no salvation for someone who commits suicide. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, "Suicide is seriously contrary to justice, hope, and charity. It is forbidden by the fifth commandment" (2325).

When my mother-in-law took her own life, my son, who was only in fifth grade at the time, asked, "Did Grandma go to hell?" The Catechism states: "Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide" (2282). It goes on to say, "We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to Him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives" (2283).

I still, at times, hear train whistles like I heard those two days in November. It is very draining when I hear persistent trains, because I know in my heart that someone is taking his or her own life. When I shared my story with a friend at work, she asked me if I had heard trains on Nov. 17, because she knew a lady who had died that day from an intentional overdose. When I looked on my computer, I found that I did hear trains the night before, which was most likely when she would have taken the pills. Saint Anthony and I had prayed so hard.

I have been inspired to create a group on Facebook, called "Divine Mercy for Lost Souls," where people can sign up to pray for those who have committed suicide, are committing suicide (for their final repentance), and/or contemplating suicide (that they do not follow through with it). At the advice of a priest, I have also set up a blog site — — for those who do not have a Facebook account. Those who wish can post the names (first names only, please) of souls who have committed suicide on these sites so that we can pray for them.

Of course, we also pray for the family and friends of all these victims. Saint Anthony, miracle worker and Patron of Lost Souls, please pray with us.

You can find prayers, church teachings, and testimonies at Divine Mercy for Lost Souls.

I once knew a saint, St. Michael Louis Frias. He passed away about 7 years ago.
He was labeled in the East Los Angeles community as Our Lady Of Guadalupe's favorite... because everything he prayed for with the Holy Rosary to God's Mother came to be. No exception!! If didn't occur as St. Mike would ask for it was because God has something better to give, but NEVER less.

He told me once, "Jerry you should pray for the poor souls... even though they're in purgatory they are still suffering. Yet one day they will reach Heaven your mercy for them will not go unnoticed by Jesus and the poor souls themselves will pray for you and once in Heaven, personally ask God to help you. God will not be outdone in love, charity and mercy.

God never says "no" to his Mother... ask her to intercede for you.

I dedicated my soul to those in danger in honor of poor souls.

I will face challenges and battles i am capable of, just like Padre Pio did.

Pray for me everyone, so I can fulfill mu promise to Our Lady and free all poor souls while saving souls in danger.

Toni - Mar 2, 2017

A powerful moment of clarity saved me from this terrible decision at the very last moment. I believe it to be the voice of an angel. I am so grateful for your prayers that others may also receive such saving grace. Perhaps it was such prayer that saved me.

Monica - Dec 12, 2016

I've been suspicious for a little while but I think there's a lost soul that climbs into bed with me into bed when I turn off the light. My bed suddenly feels warm and I feel my physical strength begin to weaken. I feel like I'm conscious when all this is happening but I can't put my finger on it. I'm afraid to discover why.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I found your website while searching for a prayer for my father.
I was very relieved to hear the church's views on suicide. I was always told that suicide was not forgiven and was a sin. I often worry that my father is not forgiven in the afterlife ,and that he's aimlessly searching for love ,comfort and peace.
My father had a very troubled past he's made alot of bad choices throughout his life and made decisions that were going to cause him to have a troubled future. I guess the stress and pain were too much and he couldn't bear it. His suicide has affected me and my siblings greatly .He had reached out to my brother and I the night he took his life .we unfortunately missed his phone calls and that's haunted us everyday since.
Part of me feels like his suicide was meant to be a cry for help but it ended up going wrong or maybe that's just me trying to make myself feel better about it. He did leave a note however it did not mention me or my siblings. I can't imagine him reading a note knowing he was no longer going to be around and having nothing to say to us. It makes him taking his life and him not being here that much worse.
I so badly want to ask him... why didn't he have anything to say to me and my siblings? didn't he love us? why would he do this? didn't he know how much we loved him and needed him? Why couldn't he just stick around and try? The note he left was vague and only mentioned a couple of people from his family though it did not look like my father's handwriting .Again this could be ne wanting to make myself feel better.
He committed suicide at his mother's house where he was living. We don't get along very well with his side of the family. Because of them the funeral was a horrible painful experience. we were not included in any of the planing nor were we included in his eulogy .
It broke my heart to sit there while the priest spoke of my father and his family members and their memories while me, my siblings and mother weren't included in any part of my father's life .sorry for rambling these words are just coming to the surface as I'm typing it's been a very painful experience for me and my family .

I would like to to ask if you could say a prayer for him so that he may be in peace and with God. His name is Glenn.
Thank you so very much.

Praise to you Lord Jesus! King of endless Glory! Savior of the world. Thank you for heading God's voice and thank you for teaching me that I can ask the saints to pray with me. I pray that the Lord our God gives you the strength to do his will. St. Gertrude can intercede for you as well. This is beautiful prayer for the poor souls in purgatory said to release 1000 souls each time it is prayed. " Eternal Father, I Offer Thee The Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son Jesus. In Union with the Masses said throughout the world today. For all the Holy Souls in Purgatory. For Sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church. Those in my own home and within my Family. Amen.

Joe Torres - Apr 21, 2014

I have been praying also the Divine Mercy Chaplet for anyone who dies in the whole world each day. I was encouraged to pray the chaplet because I read that the service men who returned from war , most of them commit suicide to the point that there are more suicide deaths compared to the military who died in combat for both Iraq and Afghanistan. So we have to continually pray for our young servicemen who commit suicide each day. This time I'll ask St Anthony of Padua to pray together with me. Thanks June and keep up the good work. And let's pray unceasingly the Chaplet for the salvation of the dying all over the world.

SG - Nov 29, 2013

Please pray for my brother, Prabhjot, who died on March 19, 2002. I feel guilty for not being there for him when he needed me the most. Sometimes it gives me peace to think that he is in a better place. I hope he is happy and knows that he is loved and will always be loved.

Holy Souls Crusade Galway - Nov 24, 2013

Our little apostolate for the Holy Souls in Purgatory places particular emphasis on those who died through suicide and we pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for them and all who are on their 'deathbed'. This can be their place prior to committing suicide, a car seat prior to an automobile accident, their place prior to a sudden or unexpected death, as well as a sickbed. As part of our work we organise an afternoon of prayer for the Holy Souls in November and a mini night vigil in May, both held in Knock Shrine, County Mayo. The history of this apparition in 1879 came about the evening of the last day of 100 Masses said for the Holy Souls by Archdeacon Kavanagh, parish priest. Earlier this year I got news of the death of a colleague I studied with some years ago, a suicide death. My mobile phone has double entries for friends and family members with home phone numbers and mobile numbers. On the Saturday night prior to our day of prayer a few weeks ago I pressed the first entry for my Holy Souls Crusade partner (his name starts with an A) to make a final check for the following day. Imagine my surprise to hear the voice mail message from my deceased friend, whose name starts with an M! The Divine Mercy Chaplet is so powerful, I wish every parish in Ireland would ring their bells at 3pm as a reminder to stop and say the Divine Mercy 3 o'clock prayer, just as they do for the Angelus at midday and at 6pm. In the November of 2006, after a summer-long relentless urging to go to Auschwitz to pray for the souls of those who had committed the awful atrocities, off we went, Aidan and I. It was a harrowing visit, to say the least!. The following day, sitting in the gardens of the Francicsan monastery of Kalwaria, we tried to figure out why we were brought to the death camps. Then it came to us that in eternity there is no time with God - no yesterday, today or tomorrow. So our Divine Mercy prayers of that day could have been all that was needed to sway the scales of justice and let the unfathomable Mercy of God act on those souls when they came face to face with the Eternal Judge. Our prayers could have halted their fall into hell and opened the doors of Purgatory for them. Not for us to judge or surmise on the final destination of anyone - either the biggest sinner or the 'holiest person in the parish'! Only God sees the soul as it really is and regret and remorse can be in that very last moment. Today, the Feast of Christ the King, spoke of the two theives on their crosses beside Jesus, both deserving of their punishment, yet one taunting, the other remorseful yet accepting his punishment. Keep up your good prayers for those souls who die through suicide, they are much needed, we here in Ireland seem to have an epidemic of these deaths, especially in the young! May God have Mercy on all their souls.

mary - Jul 16, 2013

Joy engulfed my whole being after reading your awesome story regarding the beauty of the devotion to the Divine Mercy. I have been praying the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy for several years and there were times that I even cried while asking the Merciful Savior to fix His divine gaze onto the poor souls. May God continue to inspire everyone to pray the Chaplet, not only for the souls in Purgatory, but for the sins of the world. God bless us all!

cecille - Jan 24, 2013

wonderful story and very inspiring that the powerful chaplet of the divine mercy is truly a gift from God that there is always hope even in death, is it alright to pray the chaplet even if it is not at 3 pm or am because of chores to do? Will the person still receive the mercy that jesus has promised? thank you

Bern - Dec 19, 2012

Dear June, I love Divine Mercy and I believe that He is there for those who need His Mercy the most. I pray for the souls of Christopher Galstaun, Divya Jose, Sunny (a hindu teenager) whom I remember right now of having committed Suicide. My heart weeps for them - but I trust in the Lord to forgive them - for they alone know what drove them to take such drastic steps. Jesus, please have mercy on these for whom I pray and many others in similar circumstances.

Please pray for my brother William, who is suicidal. He was completely crushed by my father as a child, never affirmed and loved into becoming himself. Over the years he has gotten into all kinds of satanic stuff, from satanic bibles, to freemasonry. He has threatened me many times and has done so recently. I believe he is a danger not only to himself, but to our whole family, including me, his wife and daughter, my mother, brother and his daughter. Please pray that he be delivered from all the satanic bondage he is in and for inner healing. That God will stop at nothing, even appearing to him Himself or sending an emissary. He promised he would leave the 99 and so this I pray constantly, that He will go after my brother and give him new life NOW, in this life, still. He can make all things new for my brother. There are countless stories of drug addicts, etc, who are living in the street who God comes and raises up. This is my prayer. Please pray with me and ask God for what is the most simple, natural thing for Him to do -- perform a miracle. THANK YOU and MAY GOD REWARD YOU for this ministry, for your prayers and for all who read this and pray for my brother.

Theresa - Feb 10, 2011

Our family of 6 prays together every night and have been saying the Divine Mercy prayer for years. Since the beginning of this year each of us prays the Divine Mercy for a specific person, living or deceased. What a wonderful way to remember all of our relatives and friends. We also pray the St. Gertrude the Great prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Jesus showed St. Gertrude the Great that the following prayer would release a vast number of souls from Purgatory every time it is said. Here is the prayer: Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most precious blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen. What a wonderful short prayer to say to help those in Purgatory reach Heaven sooner.

Connie - Feb 10, 2011

God provides trials for us but slso always provides a way out. How wonderful to hear this reiterated again. Please pray for my daughter-in-law, Shana, who committed suicide a year ago Chrismas and also for my aunt, Eualie, who hung herself when I was a girl. There has been so much pain for us as a result of this, and I am thankful that we, also, are included in your prayers. May God bless you for this wonderful thing you are doing.

Vicki - Feb 10, 2011

My husbands nephew commited suicide one week ago today at his/our Church. He lived for several hours and his family and I considered it a great mercy in that we were able to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet more than once. One time I know of our Bishop prayed it at his bedside with his family. In addition this family has a great devotion to St. Anthony of Padua. (Mostly for lost things but now for something else). It was the middle name of several of the men in the family in particular a beloved deceased grandfather that now holds his grandson, we believe. Thank you for sharing this account and for the Holy Spirit for letting me see it.

M.P. - Feb 10, 2011

May our Lord grant us the grace to trust in Him , that all our pains united to those of His Mother and Him can help to free souls from the holds of the enemy who brings thoughts of despair ; may the meditation on His Passion, esp. in The Garden of Gethsemany help us to ask The Holy Spirit to take dominion of all areas of our own lives, and of those in our lives and thus to take back the ground gained by the enemy !

May prayers of our beloved Pope John Paul II and of St.Anthony and of St.Bernadette help many who are dying , spiritually or physcially or are in purgatory , help them from all debts of not uniting their occasions of sufferings with our Lord's and of all such errors !

May our trust in the goodnesss of our Father revealed in our Lord be our strenght against all holds of the enemy and its accusations against any and all in our families and of those in our lives !

May the light and strenght of the Holy Spirit, given us in The Risen Lord also help many to repent of every act against the sacredness of life, as lfe belonging to God alone!

May we be freed from any pride that make us not turning to God for courage and support and keep us in resentments against each other , not being able to see each other in the merits of our Lord , in The Holy Spirit !

May we have the grace to often meditate on the suffering of our Mother during the Passion , to help us to know that our Lord let her suffer to gain us streght in The Holy Spirit , in our own trials brought by the enemy !

May we be blessed to gaze at His compassioanate eyes ,in The Image and thus to be helped to erase much that is bad !

Nora - Feb 10, 2011

The depression which can sometimes lead to suicide can be biologically inherited. Please pray for members of my family - all siblings - who took their lives many years ago. John, Dolores, Madelyn, and Marian. Please pray for them that God may grant them eternal rest in his beautiful eternity.

Somebody - Feb 10, 2011

St.Padre Pio said that we can even pray for a good death of somebody who died a long time ago. He gave the example of His praying for his Grandfather.Since God is outside time he would use our Prayers to save that soul at that crucial hour(Having foreseen those prayers) even though we are actually praying after the fact.He definately leaves no stone un turned to save souls. So lets not despair, our prayers can still make a diference.

Marg. - Feb 10, 2011

I find this article very believable. God works in mysterious ways and uses every means possible to help us help others. I pray for all those who will die this night. We should always be prepared to die, to keep our lamps filled and to pray
for the souls in Purgatory,

Hello June,
I belong to FOSS, Friends of Suffering Souls, where you can arrange a mass for the Poor Souls in Purgatory. In 2010 there were 71 masses said every day.
God bless you.

For all those with family or friends, past or present, who committed suicide I urge you to read "Healing Your Family Tree" by Rev. John H. Hampsch. You will learn how to prevent this tragedy and restore peace and wholeness.

A good friend sent this to me - I just lost my brother who died alone in his home after suffering through depression and alcoholism for some time. He also had lost his job and was diagnosed with diabetes. We can only judge, how he lived his life most recently has led to this unexpected abrupt end. While all signs point to him being a Lost Soul, I am keeping in my hear,t the belief our Lord and Savior has rescued him. He has won the greatest race of all, to Heaven before the rest of us. While I miss him dearly, I am at peace for he is no longer suffering in this world he lived in. God Bless all lost souls, and i pray for them along with my brother for eternal rest and peace. Say hi to mom and dad, my brother. I'll see you again someday in Paradise.

I have come to the conclusion over the years that contrary to popular or even religious opinion, a lot of the people who commit suicide are actually very sensitive people, sensitive souls who apprehend the world and visible and invisible reality in vastly different colors, contexts, intensities, and experiences even to the point that I often think of them as those 'living sacrifices' which Rom 12:1-2 speaks about. I leave it at that.

Thank you for sharing this powerful testimonie of the power of the divine mercy chaplet. I didnt know that St Anthony was the patron of lost souls how awesome.

philomena - Feb 9, 2011

was the state of a soul before God. I knelt on the prie dieu and prayed earnestly for that soul. After about one hour or so the trembling eased and I had to get back to my duties. When one of the priests(hospital chaplain) came home I asked if anyone had died that afternoon. He said no, but that I had responded to the command and just to leave it to God. At 5pm my father phoned to tell me that my sister-in-law's mother had died suddenly at 2pm that day. Both that priest and I were astonished, but amazed at the infinite Mercy of God and His Love for a soul.

Michael Condon - Feb 9, 2011

This inspired me to say a prayer for the repose of a soul of a neighbor who committed suicide.

This is a beautiful story in the way God works through so many of us. I live near a train station, and I have learned over the past few years that if I hear the train whistle I need to pray. Did not think of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. I will now. I love the Holy Souls and pray for them often. I love Padre Pio, and how he has interceded for me in my life. I happen to see living or deceased individuals in other individuals, as I go throughout my day. It doesn't need to be a long look, and there doesn't need to be a conversation. I learned years ago, I must pray at that moment for either that living person or the deceased person. If I don't, then days/weeks later I will hear that something happened to them or they died. Or, even if I think of them, I know I am to stop and pray at that moment. There is also another Maria Simma book, it is called "Get Us Out of Here" by Nicky Eltz. It is another informative book regarding the Holy Souls, and gives us information that we need now, while on earth to do our best at staying on God's path. Few people realize how much the Holy Souls can be of assistance to us, and praying for them is so simple. I am thrilled that you have started a Facebook site, and a blog, thank you. Please pray for George, who committed suicide a few years back. Emotionally he was in a desperate state, no hope, lost his way, I truly believe he repented before committing suicide, but, I also like to cover him w/prayers. Thank you. I also did not realize about St. Anthony of Padua, thank you for that information, and now I have another saint to ask to intercede. Thank you, and Praise God for how he is beginning to connect all of us, so that we know we are not standing alone when the time comes! Praise be Jesus and Mary!

It is trully awesome how God choose us. May God continue to bless you. Your story has inspired me again...I have been lukewarm but my heart is continously tugged at by our Lord. When I wake up at 3 am I always say a prayer for someone who needs this prayer at this hour. Again, thank you for sharing!

A beautiful Story!!! I live two blocks from the railroad tracks, as I was reading the story that a friend sent me, I hear the sound of the train once, then I thought: " I hear them all the time". The second time a thought came to my mind: " what if I pray every time I hear them" so I did at that moment until I hear them no more; offering the the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus... for the souls in purgatory, the dying and the ones committing or thinking to commit suicide and their families and friends. (in Spanish I don't know it in English, does anyone has it?) Thanks.

John - Feb 9, 2011

Please pray for John who took his life
a few years ago.

Anne - Feb 9, 2011

In our day and age there is also a spiritual suicde. Many live life as there being no end and continue on without God in their lives. We will pray for those that commit suicide no matter what form it might be in.

Hopeful - Feb 9, 2011

I just wanted to add, that it is so important to have a Holy Mass said for the Holy Souls, especially those who have committed suicide. I have found such peace in having these said for many, many years, knowing that The Body and Blood of Jesus is being continually offered for my loved ones. Also, having Generational Healing Masses said for the whole family.

Thank you so much for this post, God Bless you for all you are doing to spread His Love and Mercy to those sometimes forgotten Souls.

Jesus, I Trust in You! St. Faustina, pray for us!

Thecla - Feb 9, 2011

Thanks for sharing with us this testimony. To share your testimony is an act of God's mercy for us all.

Pray for the women writers who committed suicide - Feb 9, 2011

This story is a sign at this 12:35 am hour to me. You see, I heard on the 10 pm news tonight that they were going to execute Martin Link in Missouri for a murder of an 11 year old. A heinous crime, but God desires repentence from everyone, so I prayed a Divine Mercy Chaplet for him, so he may choose God during this prior hour to his scheduled 12:01 execution. I am always believed that if we execute criminals, we may do so before they have a chance to repent and then they will be lost. That is not justice. Believing in our Lord's promise to be the merciful judge if the Divine Mercy chaplet is prayed for someone at their hour of death, I prayed for Mr. Link.
I could not sleep, so I thought I would get up and take a Tylenol. I looked at the clock and it was 12:01 a. I immediately started prayer the Chaplet, again, really hard and I was crying really hard, too, because I knew that he was about to die. I cried and prayed for his conversion and "Jesus Mercy!"
And, then I get up to see if I can read, online, anything about this man's spirituality. But, I could not find anything. I found this posting of your story, though, somehow. I think it means he was saved from hell. God is love! Now, I am going to go back to bed, and tomorrow write this man's attorney, who tried for 12 years to get him acquitted.

Mary - Feb 9, 2011

I am a pastoral associate for a parish where a young man named Nathan committed suicide. Tomorrow I have to lead the prayers at the funeral vigil. Just now I prayed a rosary for him and his family. Afterwards, since I couldn't fall asleep because I keep thinking about this boy, I decided to check a few of my favorite websites. One had a link to this story about praying for those souls who committed suicide. The message in this article is very helpful. I think I'll print it out and give it to the boy's mother. Thank you!

Hopeful - Feb 8, 2011

I am so thankful for His Mercy. Tonight I had gone to bed and received a call of a friend's son death, I believe it was a suicide. I said the Divine Mercy and then came downstairs in my sorrow, for today is also the exact day my sister died, a suicide, so many years ago... I found this story just now and I know it is from Our Merciful Lord that I find it just at this moment. There have been other suicides since then in my family... I seem also to wake at 3 a.m. and say the Divine Mercy... and I have heard the "train" sound... I leave all to His Mercy and Love and commit these beloved souls to His Care. Thank you for the comfort of your story tonight. Please pray for all these souls and the Healing of all these families. Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your Mercy!

Isabelle, be assured that you are. Every time we pray on our knees, all of Heaven is moved. For reverence is the mother of all virtues. In Heaven, you will be shown all the good you wrought through prayer. God bless you sister - from another who often prays at 3 AM.

isabelle - Feb 8, 2011

I am awakened at 3 am many nights and get on my knees and pray the chaplet, I hope that I am doing some good too.

Joe C. - Feb 8, 2011

There is a little book called An Unfinished Manuscript on Purgatory in which a Purgatorial soul says that if we make the intention to offer our prayer for all the souls in Purgatory AS IF IT WERE FOR EACH ONE ALONE, then our prayer is multiplied rather than divided and each one reaps the full benefit of the prayer. This multiplication intention can be applied to any group you are praying for regardless of the quantity! Please pass this on!

Barbara - Feb 8, 2011

A very inspiring read. I pray for the Holy Souls everyday, but will now double up the effort.
The Holy Souls make a fantastic "alarm clock",Pray for them then ask to be woken at a certain time, and they do.
I remember some 60 yrs ago my Mom telling me this, and it works.
Never again will I hear a train without thinking of a lost soul.

JohnD - Feb 8, 2011

Wonderfully inspiring story which relects the unfathomable mercy of God.Recently in our area two very young children,Martin 13 and Ciara 11 took their own lives.Ihave offered the chaplet of Divine Mercy for those little ones and their families. June would you please add your voice in prayer for them also. The Lord has blessed you with a beautiful gift in praise of His Mercy which we all hope to receive. God bless you.

ingrid - Feb 8, 2011

Thank you June once again. I am glad to know that prayers work at a distance and this has helped me immensely. I am not focused so much on suicides right now as I am souls living in darkness. We must pray and ask and intercede for those the Lord puts on our hearts. May Jesus be praised for His Mercy and for the handbook on how to invoke it: The Divine Mercy Chaplet.
