Check out the video made by Daniel Johnson of Fairhope, Alabama, that features our very own Fr. David Lord, MIC.

"He just celebrated 24 years as a priest," Daniel says. "Father David suffered a massive stroke a few years ago. Since then he has worked incredibly hard to be able to do the two most important things he wants to do: celebrate the Mass and hear confessions."

It's a beautiful video:

What a beautiful video. I am so glad you shared Fr. David's story. There are so many priests living at the Shrine that we don't know about. It was always a joy seeing Fr. David during my work day at the Marian Helper Center. He always has a smile on his face and you can sense his love and gratitude for the Lord and all he has blessed Fr. David with. His perseverance inspires me to always keep the Lord in the forefront of my life because God IS AWESOME and He loves us more than we could ever imagine.
Fr. David looks better than I remember. Such a sweet and handsome man:)

Dear Fr. Dave,
I am a Marian Helper and I was so sorry to hear of your stroke! You have made a remarkable recovery and for this I am very thankful. I will continue to keep you in my daily prayers of the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Fr. Dave, I want you to know that you were a very important part of a very joyful and happy time in my life. In April of 2003, I turned 50 years young, thanks to God! My husband and I traveled to the Shrine in Stockbridge, a four hour drive, for a four day pilgrimage. This was my 50th birthday present from my husband, and it had to be the most wonderful birthday gift I have ever received! You presided at several of the Masses, Divine Mercy Chaplet Services, and Benediction. I remember how joyful you were; I could see it in your face and feel it in your heart and mine. (Your joy is extremely contagious!) I would love to make another pilgrimage to the Shrine, but my chronic health problems do not permit me to do so anymore, but I am always "present" at the Shrine, as I like to say, "in spirit". However, just spending the four days at the Shrine back in 2003 with you presiding at Mass will always be a fond memory for me, and I thank you for all the joy and happiness you had given to me during that time. May Our Lord bless you as you continue your recovery, and please be assured of my prayers for you!

May God continue to grant many special graces and blessings to Fr. David Lord. He is a true soldier for Christ fighting his illness for the sake of the Holy Mass. What an example of courage and perseverance he is for all of us.
