Divine Mercy in the Philippines

It All Started with a Prayercard

The Philippines is on fire for Divine Mercy, and it all started with simple prayercards printed by the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception. United States servicemen brought these Divine Mercy prayercards with them to the Pacific Theater during World War II. The message and devotion found a beachhead in the Philippines, and the rest is history, right? Well, actually, the story has only just begun!

Recognizing that the Marians have been official promoters of the authentic Divine Mercy message since 1941, Church officials in the Philippines invited the Congregation to have a physical presence in this southeast Asian nation. The Marians accepted the invitation, and in 2008 sent Marians to the Philippiness in thanksgiving for the Beatification of Bl. Stanislaus Papczynski, the Founder of the Marians.

Manila and Cagayan de Oro

The Marians are now focusing on two particular missions.

First, Marians serve as chaplains and faculty in Manila, working at the Shrine of The Divine Mercy, under Msgr. Josefino Ramirez, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Second, Marians are playing a key role in the building and administration of the interdiocesan Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador, Cagayan de Oro Province in Mindanao.
